Representation, communication, and community for graduate students in Biological Sciences.
Our mission
BGSA consolidates and coordinates representation of Biology graduate students, supports communication among graduate students, GPSS, the Department of Biological Sciences, and the broader university community, and works to foster a united, cohesive, collaborative, and friendly graduate community.
This purpose is drawn from the BGSA bylaws revised 7 May 2023.

Organization status
BGSA is a Registered Student Organization at Virginia Tech. The organization is student-run and should describe itself as being at Virginia Tech, rather than as a university department or official university unit.
- Use the full organization name consistently: Biological Sciences Graduate Student Association at Virginia Tech.
- Do not add official Virginia Tech logos, marks, seals, or stylized university branding without the appropriate permission.
- Keep ownership of the website, calendar, email, and financial accounts transferable between student officers.
